We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join a global agricultural trading company as a Senior European Logistics Coordinator to work closely with the Traders and wider global team. You will be responsible for independently assessing and executing the logistical flows of the European sugar businesses within the European Sugar Operations Team. 

This role will involve the transportation of bagged and/or bulk sugar in containers, vessels, trucks, and trains, either for internal European sugar distribution, for imports into Europe, and/or for exports from Europe to the World Market (West Africa / East Africa / Mediterranean basin / Eurasia). The role provides an excellent opportunity for someone eager to demonstrate their skills within the challenging and fast paced soft commodities operations and logistics industry.


  • Coordinate with traders about the specifics of each purchase/sales trade (commodities, quantities, pricing, delivery terms, specific client’s requirements);
  • Organise the transport, manage delivery orders of bagged and/or bulk sugar, coordinating with producers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, storage facilities and clients;
  • Liaise with custom and/or customs brokers to organise the custom clearance;
  • Negotiate truck / container / train freight rates with freight forwarders and shipping lines;
  • Creation of transport and shipping documents including Bill of Ladings, CMRs, delivery notes, loading orders and other administrative documentation;
  • Related database and transport file allocation, monitoring, accurate updating;
  • Manage and monitor transportation costs and potential associated risks / irregularities (e.g., file execution, claim handling, damages, delays, disruption);
  • Coordinate Stock Management (e.g. intake, outtake, stock reporting, stock counts);
  • Manage service provider invoice processing and assist with the reconciliation of trade accounts and ensure accurate record-keeping.


  • Qualification as a trained freight forwarder and/or logistics specialist with proven experience within a commodity logistics role;
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, international logistics, incoterms, and trade documentation;
  • Understanding of European customs regulations;
  • Outstanding professional expertise in organization and execution to create logistics solutions for the movement of containers / vessels / trucks and trains;
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;
  • Proficiency in English – speaking/reading/writing, is essential;
  • Any other European language, French/German/Spanish/Polish/Czech, would be beneficial;
  • Strong I.T. skills including proficiency in Excel and Word;
  • Strong logistical acumen with analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail;
  • Self-starter who is happy working in a dynamic environment;
  • Effective collaborator and team player.
