Our client is a global energy & commodity trading group, with offices worldwide, and is one the leading trading houses in today’s energy and commodity trading market. The business continues to grow and diversify into new products, creating a very entrepreneurial and commercially driven environment to work in.

Working as part of the London Middle Office team, responsible for Financial Oil, with the scope to expand and cover UK and European LNG, Power, Gas, Ags and Emissions products. The role requires a strong understanding of option pricing, PnL attribution and communication around risk profile changes to the portfolios.

In this crucial role, you will enjoy direct liaison with the Financial and Physical Oil traders.

Principal duties/responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:

  • Managing a large nonlinear derivative portfolio, understanding all risks, with accurate PnL attribution and communicating changes around the positions to senior management.
  • Production of a daily PnL for the Financial Oil desks (also supporting other desks covering the commodity spectrum, more specifically Gas Power, Emissions, Ags, LNG, Metals)
  • Reporting risk profile of the trading business in line with the agreed appetite for risk and risk limits.
  • Frequent and daily interaction with traders to understand core positions and trading rationale.
  • Implement new controls: liaise with Tech team to improve and enhance processes.
  • Development of enhanced reporting platform.


  • Strong understanding and experience of Option pricing, (Oil/Products,)
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Previous experience managing and reporting PnL for physical markets, Emissions, primary / secondary markets would be preferable.
  • Current work-based Middle Office/Product Control/Risk Management experience in a similar role in an Energy/Commodities trading environment is essential.
  • Technically competent with ETRM systems and tools; specifically, Openlink/Endur/ICTS.
  • Self-starter, organized and autonomous.
  • Process improvement mindset.
  • Fluent English, speaking and writing.
  • Advanced Excel skills, VBA SQL, Python preferred. 
  • Passionate about risk and processes, capable of working with the business lines to embed risk awareness and culture into everyday processes.
