Our client is a very exciting and growing Central London-based, international Energy and Commodity trading company seeking to recruit an experienced Accountant to support the business as it enters its next stage of fast growth.

Reporting to the CFO, the successful candidate will undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, tax, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as treasury activities of the Group headquartered in the UK and operating in various locations around the globe. The candidate will work independently overseeing various external service providers (accounting/tax).


  • Manage all accounting/tax operations, primarily overseeing various third party service providers
  • Liaise with business owners to facilitate treasury movements and to capture transactional information required for accounting and tax recording
  • Ensure business transactions are communicated and recorded appropriately by service providers in subsidiary countries
  • Oversight of Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, and Revenue Recognition
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly and ad hoc financial statements and group reporting packages
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting (including statutory accounts, UK corporate tax, VAT returns and PAYE)
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance


  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Qualified Accountant preferred
  • Experience in commodity trading, Shipping, or Logistics would be a big plus
  • Language skills (Mandarin, French, Russian, Ukrainian, or Polish) would be beneficial, but not essential
  • Ability to interpret and analyse financial statements and periodicals
  • Proven working experience as an accountant
  • Experience in overseeing activities of third party accounting and tax service providers
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with producing financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Proven ability to implement a range of internal controls both in a manual and systems driven environment
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
