A Crude and Shipping Credit Analyst is required for a major Commodity Trading business to perform daily credit risk management tasks, and to develop and maintain a thorough understanding of risks associated with crude trading as well as shipping trading. He or she will perform credit risk management functions under supervision of Credit Risk Manager.
Responsibilities
- Conduct Initial and ongoing compliance checks on all existing and prospective counterparties for trading
- Conduct counterparty assessments (periodic and ad hoc)
- Liaise with internal stakeholders on credit related issues
- Prepare credit applications for local and HQ signoffs
- Enhance internal process and procedures in consultation with relevant departments
- Recommend changes in credit limits/approval status for senior management approval
- Monitor counterparty exposure and control credit status of approved counterparty
- Maintain consistent and thorough counterparty records
- Manage credit collateral
Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level or degree level qualification, ideally in a highly numerate subject such as mathematics (statistics).
Skills:
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft office, advanced Excel skills
- Solid understanding of counterparty risk
- Previous experience of credit risk management in oil, LNG and shipping
Experience:
- 1-5 years in a physical trading environment, with exposure to trading of crude oil, LNG and shipping. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of counterparty credit risk, a working knowledge of risk analysis and mitigation methodology.
